About Delmont -Artist Biography

Delfina Monteverde was born in Argentina in 1989. At the age of 15, while visiting an exhibition of William Turner in Venice, Italy, she realised that she wanted to become a painter. This experience marked the beginning of a journey dedicated to exploring and understanding the language of painting.

At 16, she began preparing her portfolio for the University of the Arts London, where she later completed a Foundation Course at Central Saint Martins (CSM) in 2009. Having spent two years preparing with an art and design tutor, it was at CSM that she made the decision to dedicate herself fully to painting.

Monteverde continued her studies in Argentina, seeking to learn from different teachers and approaches. Among those who influenced her artistic development were Eleonora Pérez Curto, Pablo Noce and Alejandra Roux.

At 18, she joined Eleonora Pérez Curto’s painting workshop. In 2010, she returned to Argentina and completed her first year at IUNA (Instituto Universitario Nacional de Arte). She also joined Roux Art School, studying with Pablo Noce and exhibiting in its annual exhibition. After seeing her work, artist and curator Alejandra Roux invited her to participate in her programme for young artists.

In 2011, she transferred to ISFA Manuel Belgrano, seeking a more intensive, practice-based education. Believing that painting can only truly be learned through hours of practice, she continued studying with Alejandra Roux for two years and participated in the school’s annual exhibition.

In 2013, Monteverde travelled through the United States and Brazil, undertaking a period of personal and artistic exploration that led her to investigate watercolour. Upon returning to Argentina, she began painting murals and performing live painting at events, driven by a desire to share with the public the creative magic that unfolded in her studio. She received numerous commissions and worked for two years as an assistant to artist Juan Danna, collaborating on murals.

In 2015, she created the name DELMONT, marking the beginning of her artistic identity. She began painting murals with Arte.mino and, after the collaboration ended, continued independently, participating in Proyecto Persiana, an initiative bringing art to the streets of Buenos Aires.

That same year, she began experimenting with mixed media, seeking to bring together her experience in traditional oil painting, mural work and synthetic paints. Returning to Alejandra Roux’s workshop the following year, she found a way to synthesise these diverse experiences and gain a deeper understanding of her own artistic language.

Monteverde continued to develop her mixed-media practice, bringing together different techniques, materials and experiences into a cohesive visual universe. Through commissioned artworks and murals, she has continued to investigate the possibilities of her medium, exploring the relationships between colour, texture and the expressive potential of different materials.

In 2025, Monteverde was awarded First Prize at the Margaret River Art Auction, marking an important milestone in her artistic career.

Based in Western Australia, with her studio nestled in the bush, Monteverde has recently returned to oil painting and is currently developing a new collection of portraits. This new chapter marks an ongoing evolution in her practice, as she continues to explore painting, identity and human expression through her distinctive artistic language.
